Spawforths are promoting the former colliery site as a residential-led mixed use allocation through Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council's Local Development Framework. It has subsequently been promoted as a strategic site to the Doncaster Core Strategy Examination in Public. An oultine planning application is currently being prepared.
The future development proposals will bring a currently vacant and underused site back into use. It will also bring much needed regeneration benefits to the former colliery settlement and the wider area. The site was previously identified as one of 15 potential Eco-Town sites in 2008.
